Discover the stories of World War I and World War II on a special self-guided walking trail designed for children and their families.

World War I took place between 1914 and 1918. Just over twenty years later, in 1939, World War II began and lasted until 1945. Dozens of countries were involved in both wars, including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, the USA, Japan and China.

During World War II, the development of air power changed the way war was fought. Bombing raids targeted not only military bases but also towns and cities where ordinary people lived. As a result, many civilians lost their lives, and communities across the world were deeply affected.

This trail invites young visitors and their families to explore the Cemetery and uncover some of the local stories connected to these global events. Along the way, you’ll discover memorials, learn about the people who lived through the wars and reflect on how these events shaped Sheffield’s history.
