Audioguía 2. Second floor

We are on the second floor of the General Library of Ciudad Real. The first and the second floors are distributed in the same way. If we go to the left, we find, on both sides of the corridor, the offices for internal work and, at the back, the doors that lead to the rooms for reading, study and free access to the collections on Language and Literature, and, next, the rooms dedicated to Geography and History.

Back to the starting point, if we turn to the right, we first find two rooms with the collections of Science and, at the back, there are several rooms for collective and individual study (carrels).

The rooms are arranged according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), a bibliographic classification that assigns a number from 0 to 9 each science and/or discipline of human knowledge. Each book has a small sticker on its spine with the information that allows us to place it in each room, that is, the UDC number and three letters that make up the topographical code.

On each of the walls that separate the rooms on the left and right, we can see the plans with the distribution and the list of the catalogue numbers they contain.

Continue to explore the different objects on the first floor to find out more about our spaces and services.
