Welcome to the Church of Carmine Maggiore.
Placed in the historical market of Ballarò, the church of S. Mary of Carmel, know by the palermitans with the epithet of Carmine Maggiore, building on the church dedicated to Annunziata, also builded against the oldest chapel of Mary of Pity, in this place since 1117, when the first carmelitans came to Palermo called by tradition by the queen Adelasia. The actual church was builded by Mariano Smiriglio in 1627 and completed in 1693.
