Acerca del museo

The Dalmatian School of Saints George and Tryphon is not a school in the modern sense. Like the many other scholae in Venice, it was a fraternal organization, founded in 1451 for the members of a specific community present in Venice for centuries. The people from the the Dalmation coast across the Adriatic sea from Venice had been active, especially as sailors for generations in the venetian navy.

The descriptions of the stories attached to the Carpaccio paintings are very interesting and do add a lot to the experience of seeing the pictures. However it would have been good to have some comment on the actual content of the paintings such as what details to look out for or the symbolism in the paintings and something about the artist.
