August 12th, 2013. A Russian girl, Mary, starts her cycling tour through Europe, from Stockholm to Barcelona. On her way, she intends to travel through Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Andorra, and Spain.
IZI.travel Co. became a sponsor and a partner of this event.
So, we will follow Mary’s route, which covers several thousand kilometers.

Each day, we will upload new photos, videos, and notes which Mary will send us during her wonderful adventure.

We interviewed Mary and can now offer it for your attention.

- Hi! There’s quite a bit of time before your journey starts. How do you feel about it?
- Hi! I feel that I’m standing on the threshold of a great adventure! To be honest, I can’t find any particular thing, which will occupy me before going. I want to break away for a couple of months and return as a completely different person.
- I understand you. Tell me please, are there any concerns about the upcoming journey? It’s going to be a long way to unknown places.
- I have no fears. The most annoying thing that can happen is the bike will break in a remote location. But I’m sure that I’ll sort it out.
- How and what will you eat?
- Abundantly! The main rule of the cyclist – have plenty of food and as often as you can. It is preferable to take carbohydrates such as: hot dogs, chocolate, meat, sausages and so on. By the way, the people I meet on the road often feed me, so I’m not planning to starve!
- When I eat too much meat, I can’t bring myself to do something active for a long time. But I’m sure you know better. Tell me, where and how will you sleep?
- I’ll take my tent and will sleep in that. It’s really cool – you can set it up in 2 minutes with your eyes closed. But if necessary, I can stay in some motel.

- Our readers are curious about how many things you will take and which are the most important?
- The main thing is not to forget my credit card, passport and the bike! Everything else can be substituted. However, I will take also my laptop, camera, GoPro camera, clothes, a tent and the teddy cat which has no name yet. Everything will be packed in the pannier bag, which will hang on the frame of my bike.
- The question that concerns every Russian citizen - aren’t you afraid of theft?
- Not at all! My experience of cycling in Norway has given me an understanding that it’s different in Europe. Once, I left my bike with all the things at the foot of the hill and went up to spend the night. Can you imagine, next morning, everything was in place, safe and sound. However, in some countries, you shouldn’t be so careless. I’ve heard that, in Barcelona, bike theft is common.
- So you’d better be more careful. Just keep in mind that, in France, anything can happen as well.
- I promise you!
- As I know, you have a tattoo of a bicycle. Tell me, how long have you considered having one, and what does it mean to you?
- The idea came to me a long time ago, before going to Norway. It just means a bicycle.
- I should have guessed! I’ll try to ask you less obvious questions.
