The Nile crocodile is a large species which is usually 3.5 meters long but can reach a length of from 5 to 6 meters and weight of 600 kg. They become sexually matured at the age of from 12 to 15 years. Newborn crocodiles have a length of 28 cm. The Nile crocodile is widely distributed in Africa to the south of the Sahara. It inhabits rivers, lakes and swamps. It hunts mainly in the water but it is able to catch a prey on the shore. Their food is various: invertebrates, small fish, amphibians and mammals.
