The red kangaroo is common in Australia, Tasmania, New Guinea, Kangaroo Island and Barrow. It inhabits steppes and savannas on the mountain slopes and rocky areas of forests. They form small groups of a male and several females. Moving rapidly they are able to make giant leaps up to 13.5 m long and 3.3 m in height; they can move at speeds up to 45 km / h. The gestation period lasts for 30-40 days; the female gives birth to one, rarely two youngsters. The red kangaroo is herbivorous.
