About the museum

The Palais Galliera, Paris' fashion museum, was inaugurated in 1895. Commissioned by the Duchess of Galliera, this neo-Renaissance building, designed by architect Paul-René-Léon Ginain, was originally intended to house a private art collection.

Converted into a museum in 1977, it has become a key institution for fashion history, showcasing exceptional collections of garments from the 18th century to the present. Following its renovation in 2020, it now features a permanent gallery dedicated to fashion history, reinforcing its major role in preserving and celebrating fashion heritage.
