Audio tour Cornish Choir - Superstitions and Sayings

As of spring 2026, this is our shortest walking tour. It is also part of a set of three Cornish choir walking tours, the other two being Cornish Choir. History. That's on Mill, Stewart and East Main Streets, and Cornish Choir, a living culture on Walsh and Mill Streets.

This tour basically goes up and down one road with two names, Bennett and Richards, and Street. It talks about our first city park in the early 1900s, called City Square, provides a short biography of a Cornish family for which one of these streets was named, and it delves into some of the sayings and superstitions carried by a people who specialize in working underground.

Well, it is part of the Cornish Choir series. This tour, unlike the other two, does not focus on the story of the carols, but it does include music samples from them.

A little about your tour hostsand some pre-tour prep. My name is Rose Murphy, and I'm a biographer for the Grass Valley Museum. I'm Lisa Redfern, and I am on the board of Sierra College Press. We are both members of the Nevada County Historical Society and historical fiction authors. Before starting all of our tours, we recommend downloading it at home first or in a place with good internet.
