The Boa constrictor is a quite large snake; its length is up to 3 meters. It is distributed from the South of Mexico through all Central America to Argentina. It prefers to inhabit dry places but always nearby the water. It is equally active both on the ground and in the lower layer of the forest where it hunts birds and small mammals. In captivity, it feeds on small rodents. Sexual maturity is reached by 3 years. The young in a number of up to 60 individuals with a length of from 35 to 50cm are born after from 150 to 210 days after the first mating.
