Pedra das Cabras
In the middle of the wooded area of “Lugar de Figuerido,” belonging to the village of Palmeira, we find a large granite boulder known as “A Pedra das Cabras.”
This boulder has some engravings in it known as petroglyphs that resemble animal shapes, which look like either deer or goats. Each animal is represented with six legs possibly seeking to offer the animals movements.
Although these well-known petroglyphs of animals are dated back to around 2000 bC, it is unknown what the petroglyphs function is. However, many people think the function could be either to indicate a hunting zone or to establish some type of limit, but these are only assumptions or conjectures.
The beauty of the place is striking, especially during the Spring and Summer seasons when the vegetation is more abundant and the little creek carries more water.
