Weber's Sailfin Lizard

This species is found only on the Maluku Islands. It lives in tropical rain forests in trees and bushes on river banks. It is a good swimmer and can stay in the water for a long time. This is a very large lizard; adults reach the lengths of over one meter. The trunk is high and laterally flattened. The head is massive with short jaws. On the back there are sharp scales. And on the base of the long tail there is a flat range. The basic color is gray. The iris is reddish. The diet is mixed and includes both animal and plant foods.
