Guidi was one of the most important baroque sculptors in Rome at the second half of the XVIIth century. In 1647 Guidi has entered in the atelier of Alessandro Algardi to become his collaborator until the death of his master in 1654. After this date, Guidi become the boss of his personal atelier, one of the most productive in Rome, specially after the death of Bernini (1680).Guidi has the preference of Ottoboni’s family, infact this bust of Pope is the portrait of Alessandro Ottoboni.
