About the museum

The Interpretation Centre for the Isla Cristina Marshlands Nature Reserve is housed in the old Pozo del Camino Tide Mill, which was built in the 18th century. It showcases the natural and cultural heritage of one of the most emblematic areas along the Huelva coast.

The centre provides information about the immense environmental value of these marshlands as a breeding area for birds and as spawning grounds for important fish species, in addition to its role in protecting the coast and actively fighting climate change.

Furthermore, the building itself is of great heritage value as it was one of the 10 tide mills operating in this area 300 years ago when tidal energy was used to mill grain.
