Art Miami was founded in 1990 and has since grown into a globally-recognized contemporary art fair market and primary destination for the purchase of very important works of the 20th and 21st Centuries. This event has spawned the Art of Black Miami 365 which extends from January through December @ http://www.miamiandbeaches.com/events/art-of-black.

The Miami Art Show takes place in the now world-renowned Wynwood neighborhood that was developed in the mid-nineteen hundreds as a garment district and home to Caribbean immigrants (early settlers). The area was revitalized in the early-two thousands and in 2002 hit the big time with the commencement of the Second Saturday Art Walk and Art Basel. The international shows typically take place annually in early December. In 2013, a municipal board of the City of Miami formed the Wynwood Business Improvement District which today represents more than 400 property owners in the 50-city-block Arts District making it one of the most prominent and largest creative neighborhoods in the United States. The area also comes complete with 200 plus intriguing and entertaining murals, 30 plus eclectic eateries, coffee houses, and places to party.
