    Cluj is the unofficial capital of Transylvania and is nicknamed the "Silicon Valley" of Eastern Europe. It was founded in 1213 and today it is one of the most important academic, cultural, industrial and business centres in Romania. According to the latest census, the official population of Cluj is about ~325.000 inhabitants, but with all the students and the suburb, the total number of inhabitants is almost twice, placing Cluj within the top of the Romanian population ranking.
