In 1999, Pedro Ferrandiz suggests creating the "FIBA Hall of Fame" to honor the history and heritage of basketball and its protagonists. Since 2007, FIBA has therefore provided a place to preserve and celebrate the heritage of international basketball, an opportunity to honor those who have shaped the game and played a major role in writing the history of international basketball.
Certain conditions are essential for the HOF induction. An "outstanding achievement" and a strong involvement at the international level promoting the overall development of basketball allow players, coaches, referees and outstanding personalities into the FIBA Hall of Fame.
