I am Laura Maniscalco, and I am particularly fond of this magical place where I have had the honor to carry out archaeological research since 1994.

Through this guide I want to offer the visitor an opportunity to know one of the most fascinating and important places in the history of the ancient Sicilian people, Rocchicella di Mineo, which has been identified since the XVI century as ancient Palike.  Since 1994 numerous programs of fieldwork by the Archaeological Section of the Superintendency of Catania have been undertaken for the protection, development, and educational enhancement of this important site.

This guide is the digital transposition version of the teaching volume that I published in 2009,which is called Alla Riscoperta della Terra dei Siculi:  il Santuario dei Palici nell’area archeologica di Rocchicella, or Rediscovery of the Land of the Sicilians: The Shrine of the Palikoi in the Archaeological Area of ​​Rocchicella.

The narrators in this audio guide are myself, Prof. Brian McConnell of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, U.S.A., who has studied the monumental architecture of site, and Delilah Scarpato of the Superintendency of Catania.

This audio guide is part of the Sicilia Beni Culturali project for izi.TRAVEL, which is coordinated by Elisa Bonacini.
