Museum Ulpiano Checa Museum

🧑‍🎨 Ulpiano Checa was born in Colmenar de Oreja (Madrid) in 1860.

👨‍🎓 He trained at the Royal Academy of San Fernando in Madrid and at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome.

🖼️ In 1880 participated in the foundation of the Circle of Fine Arts.

🖌️It enjoyed great international recognition in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

🎖️Deserving for his merits the decorations of the Order of Charles III, the French Legion of Honour and the Order of Nichan Iftikhar Tunisian, among other great prizes collected in Europe, America and Africa, as the first Medal of the National Exhibition of Fine Arts of Madrid (1887), the Gold Medal at the International Exhibition of Atlanta (United States, 1895) or the Gold Medal at the Universal Exhibition of Paris (1900).

🎨 Historicist painter, characterized by large-format works, in which movement and dynamism are skilfully reflected.
