关于博物馆

The medieval architectural complex of Brebu, built by Matei Basarab (1632-1654) in the second half of his rule and finalised by Constantin Brâncoveanu (1688-1714), is made of several buildings: the princely house, the church and the cells ruins, the precincts wall and the steeple tower, all of them well preserved. The complex is one of the most representatives for the 17th century architecture in Wallachia. The princely house which is situated on the north side of the precincts wall and it is oriented towards the gardens and the lake that once belonged to the princely complex. Inside the rooms of the princely house, The Prahova District Museum of History and Archaeology arranged a temporary exhibition  and a permanent exhibition initiated by the refined professor Nicolae Simache – and modernized several times later – which emphasizes some aspects (political, social economical and cultural ones) of the era when the two princes who built the complex of Brebu lived in.
