Hello, my name is Leendert Spaander. I was born in 1855 and died in 1955, but thanks to this app, I’m able to talk to you today. A good thing really, because I’m your guide for today.
As an art lover and proprietor of the hotel in Volendam, Hotel Spaander, I’d like to welcome you on this trip back in time. We’ll go back to the year 1910 for a walk through this traditional fishing and artists’ village. Artists’ village, I hear you ask? Absolutely! Back in my day, many famous painters would visit Volendam. And they’d usually stay at our hotel. No surprise then that three of my daughters married painters and that my hotel is full of paintings. But more about that later.

This iTour takes you on a walk through Volendam. Along attractions such as the bell cage, the maze, the fish market and the Dril drawbridge. But you’ll also get to see other typical Volendam sights along the way, including smacks, small drawbridges, little wooden houses and local fishermen in traditional dress. You’ll be able to recognise these sights in the paintings by artists who used to stay here. You can view images of these paintings on your smartphone at each point along our route. Simply slide your finger across the paintings on the screen from right to left to look at them.

Gosh, the wind is picking up and it can get pretty wild here at the Zuiderzee, so let’s not hang about any longer. Please follow me to the lobby, where your tour will start automatically. #iams

A good tour, some information was a bit sparse, saying you had to do quizzes and videos to find out more - would rather have just had the commentary.

Enjoyable tour. Starting in the crowded harbour was challenging but once in the small streets it was quaint. Did not crack the reference to quizzes and videos. Loved the old pictures at their locations.

Te langdradig. Weinig interactie. Verhalen zonder emotie verteld. Beetje een vervelende stem.
