We invite you to learn about an ancient piece of Egyptian art, a 2nd century burial shroud.
Two thousand years ago such shrouds were a part of Egyptian burial tradition. They were placed over bodies of the dead and perhaps decorated the tomb walls. But this particular shroud from the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts’ collection is truly unique. You can learn more about it, as well as a complex process of its conservation, in our audio guide.
Text of the audio guide is read by Daria Babich, Art Conservator, The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
