Muzeu The Mechané Museum and the cult for Saint Lucy

Welcome to the long wished for Mechané Museum, the Multimedia Museum of the Saint Lucy Chariots in Belpasso.
My name is Antonino Girgenti and I am the President of the “Saint Lucy Chariots in Belpasso Foundation”, founded in 2010 by the Municipality and a Committee of the city districts.
Together with Eleonora Amato, Director of the "Belpasso Musei" Complex, and with Antonio Marino, I will talk about our great devotion for our patron saint, Saint Lucy. In fact, we have dedicated all our skills to construct the "Chariots", creating incredible scenic machines, fruit of our ingenuity, and an infinite love for our Saint!
This is why the "Saint Lucy Chariots in Belpasso Foundation” decided to create this multimedia museum, so that you can be virtually present at the Saint Lucy Chariot Event, an incredible tradition for Belpassesi people, which is held on the evenings of the 11th and 12th December, before the solemn feastday. Through special touch-screens and projection rooms, you can experience this event through its history and art, religious beliefs and popular traditions.
In the museum we also exhibit some artifacts and scenographic elements that make up the chariots themselves, installed by the workers of the various city districts.
This audio guide enables you to learn more about the history of our city, of Saint Lucy and of the tradition of the chariots ... a history spanning many centuries, in which a leading role is played by our devotion to Saint Lucy, who has been watching over us as our patroness for almost 4 centuries!
