Adaridi

The Adaridi light airplane, named after its designer, was the first motor aircraft to be both designed and built in Finland. This small-engined, single-seater plane was designed and built by the Russian-born engineer, Boris Adaridi, at the Aviation Docks of Suomenlinna Sea Fortress in 1923-1924. The aircraft was offered to the Air Force and several test flights were made. However, the 12 horse power engine was too weak to meet the Air Force’s needs, so the prototype never entered serial production.

Adaridi was sent to the museum in 1973, and was renovated by Aviation Museum Society volunteers in 1981.
