Audio tour Bashar Salha. THE MEANINGLESS AND THE ABSURD

Today Bashar lives, studies and works in Russia. Until 2017, his creative life was connected with his native contry Syria. The world-famous cities of Damascus and Aleppo are the birthplace of the artist.

Bashar Salha studied at a school in Syria, later at the University of Damascus and the University of Qalamoun, was fond of music. Everything was interrupted by the war that began in 2011, which drastically changed life in the country and his own life and outlook. Then there was work at the UN Refugee Agency, where Bashar dealt with issues related to the Child Protection Program. The war, which brought suffering, death, pain to the majority of the population, is reflected and overcome in the artist's thoughts, manifested in his creative activity.

Today Bashar, after graduating from the Academy. Stieglitz, is a postgraduate student at St. Petersburg University, he is engaged in the history of art in order to make the world around him more richer.

Bashar Salh's 2021 project is dedicated to overcoming the existential crisis by the young generation of Syrians whose childhood or youth were tested by war. A generation at the crossroads between East and West. In his reflections, the artist refers to the experience of philosophical thought. The direct deep personal experience of the dramatic events of Bashar Salh was expressed in a poetic cycle, which was later supplemented with illustrations made in computer graphics, and then with the help of blockchain technology, the words were translated into images. The name of the project “THE MEANINGLESS AND THE ABSURD” refers to the absurdism of A. Camus, who comprehends a person in the realities of World War II and post-war Europe.

St Petersburg University postgraduate students Salha Bashar, Ma Zihan, Pu Anyuan, Sohor Tatiana, Jin Chenyuan and Shuai Qi participated in the creation of the exhibition.
