On the right there’s a small park with statue in the middle. This is Bolotnaya Square.
Bolotnaya Square got its current look soon after the war. As part of the celebrations for Moscow’s 800th anniversary in 1947, the square was slightly extended and improved, street lamps were put in, flower –beds laid, and a very smart fountain was erected. At one time the fountain had both music and lights. Ten years later they put a statue of Repin the artist in the middle of the square. And Shemyakin’s sculpture called “Children are the victims of the vices of adults” was added on the other side of the fountain relatively recently.
Today Bolotnaya Square is a place where young people like to hang out cycling, rollerblading, doing fire performances and so on.
Our bus has gone full circle if you got on at Bolotnaya Square to begin with. But you can continue the bus tour if you want to get another closer look at the sights which caught your eye.
