In the middle of this park you will find a statue of Samuel Sarphati . This park is named after him. Sarphati(1813-1866) was a Dutch physician and Amsterdam city planner, his ancestors were Portugese Sephardi Jews who came to Amsterdam in the 17th century. The park was founded in 1885.
