Indian Porcupine
(Hystrix Indica)
The Indian Porcupines inhabit Central Asia and Indochina. They live on rocky slopes, in bushes, abandoned gardens and woodland. The Porcupines are nocturnal; during the day they hide in underground burrows. Their needles are modified hair. The needles are a good defense against enemies. The newborn porcupine’s needles are very soft. The porcupines feed on fleshy roots, tubers, bulbs, fruits, vegetables and fresh shoots of plants.
