They actually look like sieves. These bars used to serve as protection for the families, from the light and heat, but also from the wandering eyes of the passers-by. Almost like the drapes used nowadays...

Today, this building belongs to the Town Hall and is used as an exhibit gallery. Let's go see if there's something happening there today.
