AALTO’S LIBRARY
The library of Alvar Aalto built in 1935 is often called the «Vyborg’s pearl» and the Book Palace. This unique building is one of the historical monuments of world-wide importance. The most striking impression one can get from the original lighting of the reading hall: 57 cone-shaped openings in the roof give mellow and diffused light. In the lecture hall the wavelike wooden ceiling is of interest as it provides for excellent acoustics.
