Emerson and Sever Hall

To the right, as you walk through the New Yard, are classroom buildings Emerson Hall, completed in 1905, and Sever Hall, finished in 1880.

Sever, designed by Henry Hobson Richardson, was the first major academic building constructed on the eastern side of Harvard Yard. Directly in front of you are the steps of Memorial Church.
