Hundred kilometers to the south-east of Moscow, at the fall of the Moskva River to the Oka, the old Russian city of Kolomna stands. For the first time it is mentioned in the annals of the 12th century. In 1301 Kolomna became the first among the major Russian cities to merge in the Moscow principality turning its southern shield. The city was repeatedly burned down by Tatars, but the stone Kolomna Kremlin, built in the early 16th century, was never taken by storm. Today there are more than four hundred historical and architectural monuments of federal and regional significance in the city.

A railway line Moscow - Ryazan of the Moscow railway passes through Kolomna. Strange as it may sound, the main railway station of Kolomna is called Golutvin. Here is then the main city road junction.

When tourists come to Kolomna most of them get out of the train on the final station named Golutvin and then they use public transport to reach their primary destination - the Kremlin of Kolomna. But we offer you a more interesting option: to get out on the Kolomna platform, that is one stop to Golutvin, and travel to the Kremlin on foot through the Old Town. This route is easy to get since all electric trains running between Moscow, Golutvin and Ryazan stop, except Moscow-Ryazan express trains, make a stop on the platform "Kolomna."
