Dmitri Mendeleev is the Russian scientist and polymath; the author of a number of fundamental studies in chemistry, physics, meteorology, metrology, aeronautics, and economics; a geologist, oilman, teacher, an inventor, and a designer. Mendeleev is known throughout the world for his discovery of the Periodic Law of Elements and other scientific breakthroughs.

31 January 2020 marked 155 years since Dmitri Mendeleev successfully defended his doctoral dissertation and was appointed an ordinary professor at St Petersburg Imperial University.

This virtual exhibition is about the daily life of the great scientist. It presents a selection of items from the collection of personal belongings of Dmitri Mendeleev and his family members.
