An important market town since the 16th century in the heart of a livestock country, Livarot saw a turning point in the agro-industrial sector in the second half of the 19th century, specializing in dairy, cheese and cider farming activities. Thanks to the railroad, the deliveries, the bishop-bridge and the camembert are not a few hours from Paris!

This course, which begins and ends at the Tourist Office, includes three cheesemakers, one of which is still active. Then you will discover an old factory of cheese boxes and its steam engine, exceptional symbol of the Industrial Revolution. Finally, your visit to the butter market and the old cheese market place where, every Thursday, the closures of the sales places were sold their weekly production of deliverymen to the refining operators who marketed.
