Gravensteen - is a Medieval castle of Gent, the name is translated into English as 'the Castle of Counts.'
Deeply impressed by the crusaders castles he saw during the Second Crusade Philip of Alsace ordered a new construction to begin in Gent. He wanted to model his castle after the great exemplars of the East.
