Feb 11, 2021 - International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Women and girls represent half of the world’s population and, therefore, also half of its potential. Gender equality, besides being a fundamental human right, is essential to achieve peaceful societies, with full human potential and sustainable development. Moreover, it has been shown that empowering women spurs productivity and economic growth.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated on 11 February, is implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women, in collaboration institutions and civil society partners that aim to promote women and girls in science. This Day is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. Gender equality is a global priority for UNESCO, and the support of young girls, their education and their full ability to make their ideas heard are levers for development and peace.
May 2020 - International Day of Light
On May 16, as part of the celebrations linked to the International Day of Light (www.lightday.org and m16dialuz.unlp.edu.ar), two special sections will be inaugurated, those dedicated to Romania and Spain .
The curator of the exhibition related to Romanian astronomers is Magda Stavinschi, while Ederlinda Viñuales is responsible for the section that rescues Spanish astronomers.
In 2021 we introduce the French contribution. The curator of the French section is Corinne Berat.
