Audioguía Hall «The Marine reptiles»

The Mesozoic Era (which lasted 251 - 65 million years ago) is the era of the «middle life» of the Earth's history. The European part of Russia, including the territory of Tatarstan in this period most of the time was covered by seas, wich left their mark in the formation of the modern surface of Tatarstan.

Fauna of the Mesozoic seas were plentiful and varied. Groups of benthic animals consisted of bivalves and gastropods, crinoids and brachiopods. The open seas were inhabited by ammonites, belemnites and marine reptiles: ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, and pliosaurs.
