Алаш-Орда

Ахмет Байтурсынулы

Казахский просветитель, педагог, публицист, переводчик, тюрколог, лингвист, политический деятель. Один из лидеров и активных участников движения «Алаш». В 1913 году совместно с Алиханом Букейхановым и Миржакыпом Дулатовым издали в Оренбурге газету «Казах». В 1917 году участвовал в создании концертов «Алаш» на двух Всеказахских съездах в Оренбурге, стал одним из организаторов и руководителей правительства Алаш-Орды.

Mirzhakyp Dulatuly

Kazakh poet, writer, one of the leaders of the Alash-Orda government and the Kazakh national liberation movement. In 1909, he published his first poetry collection titled ‘‘Oyan, Qazaq!’’ (Wake up, Kazakh!). He also wrote ‘‘Baqytsyz Jamal’’ (Unfortunate Jamal), the first novel written in the Kazakh language. In the summer of 1917, Dulatov became one of the organizers of the First All-Kazakh congress
in Orenburg, where the first Kazakh political party ‘‘Alash’’ was formally established. He became a member of the Alash-Orda government.

Kazhymukan Munaitpasuly

The first professional wrestler in the history of the Kazakh people. Born on April 7, 1871, in the village of Karaotkel, Akmolinsk region. He won multiple world championships in Greco-Roman (also known as Classic
or French) wrestling among professionals and was the first Kazakh to earn the title of world champion. During World War II, he held performances to raise funds for the army and donated a plane to the front, naming it after Amangeldy Imanov.

Turagul Abayuly

Kazakh poet, translator, literary scholar, and public figure. In 1909, together with his cousin and with the support of Alikhan Bukeikhanov, he published the first collection of his father Abai’s poems in St. Petersburg. He left behind memoirs about his father titled ‘‘About My Father Abai’’. He translated into Kazakh the works of Maxim Gorky (Chelkash), Jack London (The Story of Keesh), and Bolesław Prus (Antek). He was an active participant of the ‘‘Alash’’ movement.

Seidazim Kadyrbayuly

Renowned political and public figure, people’s teacher, professional lawyer, and author of the constitution of the Kazakh autonomy. Born in 1885 in the Turgai district of the Kostanay region. He participated in drafting the Kazakh constitution and was involved in all major political events affecting the Kazakh people during the pre-revolutionary period. He served in the leadership of the ‘‘Alash’’ party.
