Audioguía 5. Second Floor - Medieval and Modern Maremma

The last section of the museum is dedicated to archeological evidence from the city of Grosseto and its surrounding territory. The itinerary follows a chronological display of items ranging from the Etruscan and Roman periods to the modern age. The most important nucleus of items comes from excavations carried out in 1978 at Siena’s cassero, a structure from the 1300s which is currently incorporated within the Fortezza stronghold of the Medicean walls of the city. The section is completed by a nineteenth-century palio, some stone artifacts from the Leopoldine Baths of Roselle, and items from the collections of the old Civic Museum (Room 40).
