The “Regional Emigration Museum" analyses the phoenomon of the “Great Italian Emigration” under a commemorative and contemporaneous point of view. It takes care of the conservation, protection and valorization of the history of the so called “Great Italian Emigration”. The proposed activities of cultural disseminationhave the aim to develop a stronger connection with the territory in order to go deeper into the aspects tied to the diaspora, to the rising and the growth of the migration, the settlement in the place of arrival, the birth and the expansion of the gruppi associativi. The museum has the aim of interacting with people who have the desider of discovering their origins, it takes care of recovering historic objects and it examines the return emigration.

The historical memory is protected not only because it could be lost, but also because it could help on reflecting about contemporary issues.

In short, the field of study does not concern only with the field of the specifical topic of the Great Italian Emigration but also with the wider theme of the mobility processes, analysed under a both historical both contemporaneous point of view.
