Museum Studies MA

Welcome to the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester. Founded in 1966, the department is the oldest of its kind in the world. Known for its leading edge thinking and experimental practice, researchers, practitioners and postgraduate students from around the globe come together to pioneer new ways of conceptualizing museums, galleries and heritage.

Each year the master’s students collaborate with an external collection to create installations that push the boundaries of what an exhibition can be. This year they have collaborated with the British Library and Unlocking Our Sounds Heritage to bring to you exhibitions and tours that will encourage new ways of thinking about the sounds around you and the stories they tell.
