Ulitsa Volkhonka

Ulitsa Volkhonka is not a very old street, it was first built in the eighteenth century. It runs to the west from the Kremlin to the Prechistensky Gates and it got its name from the estate of the Volkhonsky princes. At one time there was an inn here which was popularly known as “the Volkhonka” and so the street soon started to be called Volkhonka too. Today Volkhonka is like a whole town of museums and its most important point of interest is the Church of Christ the Saviour.
