About the museum

Leeton, unlike most country towns, did not develop around a local pub, supply store or railway station. It was purposely built as part of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Scheme. The Leeton Museum has a permanent exhibition " Water by Design - The Leeton Water Story" for you to enjoy and understand how the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area was created to become the food bowl of Australia.
