Black Broadway on U: A Transmedia Project, a multi-platform story that chronicles the broad civic, social, economic, cultural and historical impact of Black D.C.’s historic greater U Street corridor once known as “Black Broadway." This mini-doc series, "Black Broadway on U: Echoes of an Era" unveils the "hidden" and "authentic" stories, "first hand" accounts and memories of this under-told story and American history told through the lens and voices of the black community who created its own cultural prosperity from the early 1900s-50s. Despite or perhaps even because of the segregation that prevailed in America at this time; this community's businesses were black owned and run; its buildings, built and financed by blacks; its entertainment and performing arts, by and for blacks.
