Welcome to the Ivy Creek Natural Area and the October tree walk hosted by the Jefferson Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society.  This is traditionally a group walk done onsite at ICNA but this autumn we are offering you virtual tours instead.  We look forward to in-person walks again in the future but hope that you enjoy this substitute for now.  Thank you to Phil Stokes for leading this walk for the VNPS and Dede Smith of Virginia Audio Adventures for technical assistance.

There is a list of the trees you will be seeing, available on the ICNA website to download (and also at our kiosk), and we have placed numbered, orange flags near each tree along the walk to make them easier to find.  We have taken at least one photograph of each flagged tree to help you be certain which tree you are seeing and to highlight some of the details that Phil mentions.  This walk will be available to the public through October 31.  Please do make use of the photographs if leaves have fallen off by the time you take this walk, although many trees are identified by their bark and branching structures as well.   Photographs are all taken at ICNA by Catherine Boston.

You begin this walk at the far end of the parking lot at the head of the Paved Trail.  Follow the Paved Trail, then take a shortcut to the School Trail which will bring you back around to the parking lot via the Red Trail.  Enjoy your walk!
