In this room there are some paintings that illustrate how the collection took shape, from the beginning of the nineteenth century to the last part of the twentieth century.
Brera is best known for its Renaissance masterpieces but it also has an extraordinary collection of Italian Modern art. Displayed for years in rooms 10 and 11, the Modern collections are destined for the neighbouring Palazzo Citterio. While the Palazzo is being prepared, a selection of works from the Jesi and Vitali collections and other Modern works, acquired by the Museum, will be displayed in constant rotation in the visible storage space in rooms 1, 9, 15 and 23.
