Take a walk with Marilyn Smith, geologist, Virginia watershed educator and long-time Ivy Creek school guide as she leads a walk, especially for younger children, along the Red Trail to Martin's Branch and the reservoir.  Marilyn will talk a lot about water and rocks but will also talk about habitat, wildlife and how soil type affects which plants will grow in a place.  She will also do some collecting in the stream to test if it is healthy and talks about the reservoir and our water supply.  Starting at the Barn and heading down the red trail, this is a walk for all ages.

5 stars! Great tour; I learned a lot from this presentation about rocks and water, but also about how intricately balanced are all the processes of Nature. Ivy Creek Natural Area is such a wonderland and Marilyn has brought some of its secrets to light in this tour. Thank you!
