Welcome to Contemporary Gallipoli an intercultural group exhibition curated by Meredith Brice that explores, interprets and reflects upon the Allied Gallipoli Campaign in Turkey during the Great War 1915.

In the exhibition you will experience key aspects of this journey of contemporary Remembrance in artworks that explore:
• Respect for the history and significance of the nurses and their work at the clearing stations highlighting their central role in the theatre of Gallipoli dealing with the tragedies of war and the healing processes
• The significance of artistic mediums - visual, aural, music/sound to poetically navigate and express shared grief, how artworks can memorialise for posterity, pay tribute to those in the field and on the home front
• The healing friendships between Australia and Turkey with Gallipoli as a shared sacred place for Australia, New Zealand and Turkey, a place of modern pilgrimage in the contemporary context
