    This trail is a tour around the historical canal features within Daisy Nook Country Park, between Ashton under Lyne and Oldham, about 6 miles east of Manchester. The canal is the disused Hollinwood Branch of the Ashton Canal. The trail starts outside the café in the country park car park, just off Stannybrook Road near its junction with Newmarket Road.

    Thank you so much for making this history available and bringing the old canal to life. I spend a lot of time walking and running in Daisy Nook (and indeed right along the old Hollinwood branch from Droylsden) and now I’ve found these photos and facts I can’t wait to show my kids next time we are out.

    This is a very pleasant place for a walk anyway, but these photos and stories really add an extra interest if you like to know about the past.
