Audio tourFor the Love of Horses - Shernya Vininsky Krause

Dedicated to my Mother, Ann,

Who gave me

Wings to Fly

I have always been a figurative painter making paintings involving horses since I was a child and in many ways I have been making the same painting since then.

My paintings have immediate impact and at the same time rewards a longer prolonged viewing time. It becomes more interesting the longer you look. What was hidden becomes visible. An eye not told what to see, sees more. It makes us recognize what we have never seen before,

In much of my work, I have gone away from the European tradition of linear and atmospheric perspective. Rather than looking into a painting’s illusion, we look at the flatness of the surface.

My obsession with horses has been wrung out, examined and reexamined from every angle. So now when there’s nowhere left to go, I feel I can go anywhere.

Paintings take many forms, each one has its own story and its roots. Each one unfolds from a grain of an idea revealing itself in all its promise as unique.

I am honoured and grateful to present a group of paintings that have been a labour of love and prepared to let them go into the world to speak for themselves and be loved in return.

Your artwork is beautiful Shernya. I love how you hide the images in some of the paintings The more obvious ones are also beautiful but there's just something wonderful about finding something in a painting. Each one needs to be carefully examined. Congratulations on this beautiful body of work and the lovely audio you just shared. Your poetic expression is something I just learned about you after all these years. Amazing!
